For this sunglass assignment I decided to go with a very sleek design that was very modern. I really enjoyed this assignment and liked how we were able to explore our own designs. I used many different tools to create this design an am very pleased in how the overall design came out.
When creating my sunglasses I traced my drawings from the side and the front views. Then after making the shapes for one side of the sunglasses I mirrored it onto the other and joined them. Then made the surface a planar one and then extruded the form. After to create a different layer for the opening of the lenses I created a form then boolean differenced it from each side. After that I traced that form and extruded it to create the actual lens. For the sides I traced my form then made it a planar surface then extruded and mirrored each side. I created a line down the center of each side to create a more texturized look and did this through tracing the side then making a pipe and boolean differencing it. I created one arrow through poly lines then extruded the curve and mirrored it to give the piece a signature look. The lettering "fleche" meaning arrow in french on each of the sides was done through poly lines then extruding the lines.
I chose my materials by using all clear ones giving them a real sunglass appearance. I chose the clear brown for the exterior and for the lenses a clear gray plastic. For the arrows I used a gold material to make them look much nicer. Then for the sides a clear plastic to give them a more modern feel. Finally for the lettering I used another brown rough plastic.
