Jillian Broyles: Week 8 Lamp

Lamp Ghosted View with Ribs and without
Lamp Off                                                              Lamp On

For this Project I decided to go with a modern design and a simple shape for my Lamp. I decided to go with an more organic shape rather than geometric. My lamp stands at one foot tall to give it more height and stability since there are ranging forms from smaller to larger.
When creating my file before laser cutting the lamp I used many different tools and techniques. First I made my extruded form and created contours. After I created my ribbing and made my hole so that my hand could fit thru to put the lightbulb in.
When choosing the material I wanted to laser cut I decided to go with a lighter wood to make it have a better more natural appearance. I am very happy with how my lamp came out. I also learned a lot from this project and now know the waffling technique very well.
