Jon Broadfoot Winter2014 elds205 Mouse
For my mouse design I chose to model it the other way than shown in
class. I liked the form of this mouse better than the one I created in
class and it looks like it would be way more comfortable than my other
one. I also thought that adding in some negative space would be more
pleasing to the eye than having just a solid mouse.
Some of the techniques that I used in the creation of this mouse goes
as followed. I started with the three curves that were provided for us
and used the loft command. Then proceed to use the sweep 2 command to
create both sides of my mouse. After this was done I trimmed out all of
the access surfaces that I didn't need to create a solid. To add more
continuity to my surfaces I use the match surface command and made
everything nice and smooth. Then it was time to fillet my edges, match
some more surfaces and zebra it up to make sure everything was smooth
and silky. Then I got creative and added my negative space, a scroll
wheel and the grip on the back.
When I sat down and was trying to figure out what materials to make my
mouse I decided that it should be made out of plastic so that it could
be easily mass produced. From there I wanted to pick colors that would
be pleasing to my eye. I chose the bright green body because it
contrasted well with the black grip on the back. I also added an orange
button and a pink scroll wheel to break up the vass amount of green I have going on.
