Maus

When I thought of a computer mouse design, I thought of Apple's simple, modern designs and wanted to target a design that would have those qualities; simple and modern. A computer mouse should be something that fits comfortably with your hand and that looks so smooth you could slide it anywhere. With this in mind, I was inspired to design an object that its form was a nice fit for the average hand and the way a hand is in a resting position and also that has an exterior that compliments the object's movements.
For this models I used many different commands on Rhino. I started out with a sphere that I rebuild to edit its form with control points. Then I cut it in half and duplicated it into a smaller scale. Once I had both shaped I wanted, I joined then together and created a solid with the offset tool. Later, I used the blend tool to get nice, smooth edges. Once that was done, I did the track ball with with the sphere tool and boolemean difference command.
Rendering the mouse on Key shot was the funnest part because this would add the finishing told for the simple and modern concept I was looking for. I chose a clear colored material to highlight the organic shape of the product. The edges and track ball are done in gold because this is a time-less color that looks both modern and elegant.
