Zachary Botwick: Week 3 Hammer

This is my gavel. When coming up with an idea for this project, I wanted to make something that I thought most people in class would not have tried. I decided to make a gavel and its sounding block.  I went for a more modern look on the handle, and took the classical rout when making the head of the gavel.
When making my hammer I used the curve line tool revolve. To create some of the edges I used the chamfer tool. I also used the fillet together with the chamfer to create unique and clean edges. I used boolean union to join the pieces together.
For the gavel, I used a wood which would show off its edges edges. Some of the wood was too dark to reveal what I wanted. For the sound block, I decided to use a see through material. The material name is beer. The color looked right against the wood and the shadows are interesting.
