While researching mouses currently sold on the market, I found that many featured an ergonomic body that fit around palm of the hand. I wanted to implement this design feature to my mouse so I worked at creating the perfect shape. The curved sectioning of the side of the mouse gives room for the thumb to snuggle around to provide more comfort while using the mouse.
To create the shape of the body, I used the loft command. Once i was satisfied with the overall shape of the body, I projected two curves onto the mouse as a guide for the curved sectioning. I then cut the part out of the mouse through the split and delete command, then rejoined the gap with Sweep 2. The buttons and side scroll were made using the Boolean Difference, Extrude and Extract surface command.
I chose to apply two black materials to the main body and button area of the mouse. The Buttons feature a glossy plastic finish which contrasts the rough plastic body. I added a titanium finish to the the thin tube around the bottom area of the mouse to separate the bottom and top layers. I then finalised the design by adding a red plastic material to the bottom. These materials reinforce the sleek and trendy image I wanted the mouse to project.
