I was inspired to create a lightweight hammer after looking at many other hammer designs. The main feature of this design in are the holes that are sectioned out of the handle to minimise weight. Secondly, I angled the handle slightly to give the hammer a more dynamic form.
Most of the elements of this hammer were achieved using curves. I traced out shapes i wanted and used the sweep 2 commands to transform them into polysurfaces. The I used revolve to create the head. I also used the boolean difference command to subtract cylinders from the handle, which created the holes. I finished off by chamfering and filleting most of the sharp edges.
My material choice was influenced by home depot. I used the orange color and liked how i worked with the metals. Most parts of this hammer are different kinds of metal, including steel and iron. The handle is a black leather mold to provide comfort for the user. I applied brushed steel to the chamfered edges of the holes to have them stand out and add contrast to the design.
