When starting the hammer project, I wanted to stray away from a typical hammer design. I was inspired by a more medieval war hammer that was used as a weapon rather than a tool. The design developed into something that reminded me of a video game.
I initially started off with creating the head of the hammer by repeating the spike shapes in a square formation and then did a booleanunion on a large square block. I created a smaller surface to join the two surfaces which created the nice curved blocky head piece. The handle piece runs through the head and I then fillet both edges to connect the piece cleanly.
I chose a nice aluminum finish for the head piece to make it look sharp and dangerous. The handle is a solid black sleek metal covered in accents of gold. I bumped up the contrast on these because I wanted the edges to look nice and defined. As I look at them now, I kind of regret not keyshoting a picture from a birds eye view.
