Samantha Whitmore Winter 2014 ELDS 205 Hammer
I wanted to recreate just your basic kind of hammer. Something with a comfortable grip, cause it's important that your always comfortable when using a tool. With the grooves for your fingers it gives you a tighter grasp. The small bumps and edges make it easier for you to find it if in a hurry. If you were to reach into a tool bag you would be able to easily identify the hammer from other tools.
For making the bumps I had used the the solid tool and the boolean union to mesh together the two. I had also done this for the edges the cover the sides of the hammer. As for the shape of the top edge of the hammer head I used boolean two surfaces to get that shape outcome. Finishing with filleting the edges of all edges leaving nothing to come to points, leaving a smoother surface.
I had the idea to make the hammer in bright colors from watching my dad work. He always looses his tools and can never remember where he left them. With these bright colors it would definitely be hard to misplace now. The handle is a wood, which is covered by a hard plastic color. The head is a metal material to give it the durability that is needed for its work.
