 3d Printed Ring

For this assignment I decided to make an flower inspired ring. Specifically from the Poppy flower is where I drew my design from. I wanted to go with a simple design that had basic flower attributes and one that also looked a little quirky. Going with my design I developed it into a little girl's kids ring. I used materials that wouldn't harm children and also tried to make the ring swallow proof by making it a little larger than an averaged sized ring.
When creating my ring I made my petal shape using curved poly lines then extruded the surface into a solid. After that I created my band which was a simple tube created to my ring size then filleted on the edges. The center of my flower design is many Boolean union-ed spheres to create the bud of the flower. Then for the vine aspect around the flower I created a curve to fit around the petals then piped the curve. For both the bud and the petals I used the command Polar Array to create equality through the flower. Finally I decided to do an engraving using my initials "gb" which I created through using poly lines then piping the lettering and then using the command Flow Along Surface to Boolean Difference the initials from the band.
When rendering I decided to go with very playful materials that would contain more children like aspects to them. For the petals I decided to go with a light grain oak, the bud in a rough yellow plastic, the vines in a shiny clear green plastic, and the band in an chrome material. When rendering in passes I used the passes diffuse, ambient, shadow, beauty, and occlusion to give the flower a more 3d look to it.
