I've always been interested in science fiction landscapes and architecture. Perhaps theres even hidden Arabic influences in it somewhere. Heres my version of a castle. I wanted to create a modular looking main building with interesting shapes enhancing and surrounding it. The top two images were taken from Rhino and the last one was rendered in Keyshot.
The main building is made of two spheres that cut into each other before filleting them for a smoother shape. I used the extruded profile tool for a lot of things including the island which it rests on, the pillar profiles on the ground, and the black shoulder structures of the building. The steps that lead up to the building were arrayed diagonally then divided by boolean difference from perpendicular rectangles.
The materials are simply made of white, gray, and black paint. I didn't think colors looked particularly well so I just used neutrals so you can see the contrast of the shapes cutting into each other. The white paint reflected the environment lighting well and the black ties it together and grounds it into the background.
