Grant Hoskins Week 5: Glasses

Grant Hoskins Winter 2014 ELDS205

The inspiration behind these glasses is the country of Panama. They are meant to be very tropical looking. They were originally designed for women but may be worn by men as well. They will be produced in several different colors. These glasses are perfect for a wide variety of people of all ages. The original design is by Maria Samperio.

I created these glasses by using background bitmap images. Curves were traced onto the image and then projected using the Crv2View Command. I then extruded the projections and filleted the edges. The nose piece was modeled in the same manner except I used a pipe instead of an extrusion. The nose pads are simply a ellipse that is extruded and oriented onto the glasses. A top view was not included in the drawing I received so I had to draw that in myself.

I wanted to keep the materials simple in Keyshot. The frame is a hard green plastic. The lenses are made of refractive black glass. The bridge is made of polished 24K gold and the nose pads are a soft clear plastic. I am happy with how the materials rendered and am pleased with the lighting and shadows as well.
