Sean Carl: Week 5 Glasses

These goggles were designed by John Sibert with the intention of aiding an alchemist in his line of work. The Alchemist's Eye Protection has the ability to see the sacred geometry in objects, help transmute gold, and whatever else alchemists do.They resemble goggles more than glasses, and have unique features, which made this project quite fun to work on.

The main body of these were created from cylinders that were boolean differenced with another cylinder from the top view. The squiggly fireball patterns were extruded from a curve drawing which was polar arrayed and trimmed along a few circles. The strap was made from using the sweep 2 command, and I connected them with a two projected and extruded ellipses from the sides of the goggles. The left lens was created from booleaning a ellipsoid with a scaled down version of itself, then I cut it in half.

The Cylindrical parts are made of polished nickel. I applied a cloudy green paint to the bridge and connecting piece for the strap. The strap itself is a black rubber. This set of eye-wear is set in a magical, high fantasy type setting, so I chose gold for the orb in the center, and X-ray green and frosted white glass for the lenses.
