maria samperio: week 5 sunglasses

My intention was to re-create the original drawing from Ryan Quinn  glasses, making slight adjustments to the form in order to make them more comfortable and useful. Their aesthetic fits modern trends in accessories and sunglasses. I rename the glasses to P.J.Incuts because it was inspired on professor P.J. bold and ergonomic style. Sunglasses are about original style, and it's a clean look of authenticity that makes the statement.

To model this design I relied on the picture frame tool. This allowed me to make curves to get the main shapes and then create surfaces through Patch , loft and extrude surface. I used the Crv2View tool, to make the sunglasses curvature and shapeable to the head. I started patching the curves then extruding the sruface and for the lenses I projected the curves and trim them for then use loft and unify all surfaces. For the dual hinges I Boolean difference basic cylinders and shapes helping the legs blend smoothly.

My material and color choices were based on the good quality design aesthetic that I wanted to recreate. I used a hard shiny plastic for the frame and legs.  The hinge is made of metal (Titanium and cast iron) for strength. Finally the lens are made out of a clear yellow colored glass, lens material that filters out 100% of UVA harmful blue lights.
