Andra Wibisono - Week 4 - USB

My USB design is focused towards a durable shock resistant body. It features a rubber lining around the body to protect it from shock, wear and tear. I also included a light indicator that switches on when plugged in to a computer, so you know when its plugged in and running.

To create the shape of the body, I created ellipsoid which a then trimmed. I used the offset surface to create the ribs on the side. The glass screen and light were made by projecting a curve to the surface, extruding and chamfering its edges. I then traced out the usb logo and projected it onto the surface, then extracted the surface.

I chose to apply rough black plastic material to the inner body. I then applied aluminum to the inside of the ribs to add contrast and maintain the strong, durable look. I then applied a matte orange paint, adjusting its roughness, to replicate rubber texture as best as i could. The screen is made of dense black glass and i used an emmissive blue light for the logo.
