Sunglasses
This project was an awesome challenge.
Working with a design that was not mine proved to be quite a learning
experience. Trying to envision the structural design protocol was tricky so I
worked with Brendand Faulkner and we helped each other with many of the basic
commands that we learned thus far. Ultimately Uriel Brown’s sketch was brought
to life.
In order to flesh out the original
drawing, I used surfaced curves and made solids. It made it much easier to join
and fillet. The bitmap command was helpful in recreating Uriel’s product
design. Incorporating the ortho’s was a multilayered back and forth process
that was repeated many times before it was done with ease.
Since the lens shape reminded me of
goggles, I thought to combine a sunglass style with a google appearance; the
result is the Pyramid Sun Goggle. The lens colours were selected specifically for
snow sports to reflect the sun. The frame and arms complement each other as
well as the lenses for the winter athlete.
