Andres Poch: Week 3 Mouse

To make this mouse I was inspired by Oliver Risoto's Zero mouse concept (http://www.toxel.com/tech/2009/03/10/zero-mouse-concept-by-oliver-rosito/). The purpose is for the mouse to look stylish and to be as weightless as possible. To achieve this, any extra parts, like the central part of the mouse, were removed. 

The materials used follow the same weightless principle. Also, A monochromatic color scheme was used along with shiny plastic were used to create the stylish look.

The main commands used in rhinoceros to create this model were: 2 rail sweep and loft, in order to create all of the surfaces; Pipe and boolian difference to create the wholes between different materials; and fillet, to clean up all of the edges.

For the design of this hammer I was inspired by the Estwing Hammer (http://www.manufactum.de/estwing-schlosserhammer-p1405916/). The main concepts that I took from it was the octagonal head for the hammer and the way it was placed into the handle. Basically, the steel bar connected to the head of the hammer is attached to the handle by layers of plastic that have been custom made to fit perfectly with the still bar. This prevents the hammer head from falling off and give a sturdier grip.

The techniques that I used the most in Rhinoceros were: filler, to avoid any straight edges; project and slice, to create every individual layer of the handle; planar surface, to cap all of the layers; and offset to maintain the same shape regardless of size.

For materials I used Steel for the hammer and four types of hard plastic. The black, white and colored plastic are used for support and to give color contrast to the handle. The clear plastic is used to show how the handle is attached to the steel bar. The best part of the plastic layers is that if they get damaged they can be replaced with new layers, giving the hammer a longer usage life.

Andres Poch: Week 2 Rubber Ducky

This speaker was inspired by one of the speakers that my sister used to own. Basically what the speaker does its that it transmits the sound waves from the bottom of the product through rubber onto any conductive layer, for example a table or a window. This wave transfer allows for the whole layer to become a speaker and produce sound. On the top of the product there are two heat sensitive buttons to adjust sound, and on the frontal part there's another heat sensor that turns the product on and off. Finally, in the right side, there are two plugs to connect the power source and the audio input.

The main commands that I used for this model were: project curves to make the bill and and the buttons, and pipe with boolean difference to create the rubber unions between the buttons and the plastic. and between the plastic.

Andres Poch: Week 2 Flashlight

For the flashlight I wanted to design a case that would look good 3D printed and as an actual product. The whole purpose was to create a playful case that would be useful to hold a flashlight and would also make use of the light being generated. The owl concept comes from the fact that they are night birds and are used to see in the dark, so with this case the owl allows you to see in the dark. This product is mainly composed with extruded and rotated lines to create a more organic and natural design. 

This product is composed by three materials. First, the hard shiny plastic that creates the body and the head of the owl, which provides protection to the flashlight and allows for the color to shine. Second, a translucent white plastic is used in the eyes
