Julian Dinsing Lock Scan

 For this project we made a rough model out of foam. We made a lock and a table tennis bat and went for the lock as it was easier to fit in the scanner. After scanning and exporting the file we opened it using rhino.
This was were I had to modify the file a lot as the model was really quite rough. I added some more details to make the lock more useful. The bottom has several rubber rings which should protect it when being dropped. The protection is necessary as the lock has a light which runs around the keyhole to ease use at night. There is also a light running around the top which can be used as a little flashlight to locate the area that should be locked faster. This is why the lock is called night lock.

Julian Dinsing week 10 Camera

When I designed this camera the first thing that came to my mind was that I needed a big lens on it. Secondly I wanted a big flash so that was what I went crazy with. I stuck with the classic camera design and modified these two components in order for it to carry the name Zooom. The interface on the touch screen provides all the settings you would find on a modern camera. There is an on/off button on the top, with 4 led's which indicate battery level. On the front there is the trigger button to take pictures.
The reason this camera is called Zooom is because it has the ability to take extreme close up pictures of still or moving objects. So far all the cameras I owned always struggled with high resolution close up shots. The complex lens of this camera will make it easy to get close up objects into focus. Secondly the two flashes on this camera make up for the large amount of light that is necessary for these high quality close up shots. The smaller flash triggers milliseconds before the larger flash to add to the definition of the image due to the two light sources.

Julian Dinsing Raindrop Week:8

For this chair I chose to focus on a type of chair which to me is the most relaxing. The way this chair is suspended from the top with a ball bearing provides the sense of floating. The full range of motion also allows for subtle swinging motions which calm and relax the soul as you sink deep into the two huge pillows.
The aluminum pipes make for a lite and structurally solid design which are two important aspects of this design as it has to be transportable and also withstand the weight of two people 400lb. Standing at 100 inches tall it inst still portable and can also be disassembled into two main components, the base and pole and the seating area (raindrop)
The reason for the name is that the shape of the seat is a raindrop. The idea behind this is that it is dropping from the top of the pole which holds it which ties in into the relaxing experience this chair should be. Water, especially the sound of water can have a very calming effect, so what could be nice to be surrounded by a shape which makes you think of the light trickling sound of rain.

Julian Dinsing Week 7: Lamp

As I was looking for inspiration I first went through a few images of cars and tried to find lines and shapes that I might like once I would revolve them. After trying a few times my final idea came to me. This is also the reason why this lamp is called the dragonfly lamp. I took the side profile of a dragonfly wing and shortened it to five inches so that the lamp would have the desired 10 inch diameter. I revolved the curve and that is where I got the shape from.
The lamp is supposed to be used as a little night light. This is the reason for the dense sectioning. With a total of 28 sections the bulb will barely be seen and the light given of wont be very bright. This was important for me as I wanted my design to appear clean and almost like a real lamp shade. I am hoping that the shapes which will be seen once the light is turned out look amazing and hope to use this lamp in my room which is why I will go with wood.

Julian Dinsing Week 6: Ring

I decided to make a elegant ring which uses two materials, gold platted brass and rose gold. It has a little gem on the top inside part which is embedded completely so it is flush. The design of this ring is slightly thicker at the top than at the bottom to give it more dynamic. The engraved rails running around follow this slight tapering.
The ring is made for simple natural women who prefer understated elegant looks rather than a big ring which seeks attention. It is more about the meaning, the gesture or thought that comes with owning the ring and not so much the value or extravagance.Then again emotional value is priced much higher than the most expensive diamond which finds its place on many rings today. This is where the true beauty of the ring can be seen which is why it is as minimalistic as it is.

Julian Dinsing: Week 5 Classic Collection Glasses

When I first had to draw these glasses I was thinking about something classical. I never have been a big glasses person but this shape and style is what I would like most. They are simple, elegant and even though they do appear to be from a different century, I believe this design could also find its place today. The wood above the glass is slightly translucent which adds to the modern touch. Aluminum and gold metals bring out the elegance and the smoked glass is a classic. As the name says it's more a collection piece rather than an everyday item.

Julian Dinsing: Week 4 USB

The USB is also based on the tutorial however I let my own ideas flow into it. Its a simple modern design which is geared more towards serving the purpose of being a usb rather than an accessory. Although the design has appeal the colors and materials used are intended to be understated and functional.

Julian Dinsing: Week 4 Bottle

I decided to stick to one of the tutorials but only as far as the steps go. The form for the bottle was meant to be elegant and flowing. The colors should underline this quality which is why the bottle is light gray as this brings the shapes out the best. The silver edges accentuate the form.

Julian Dinsing: Week 3 Mouse

This mouse is a high quality, solid build leather product with a sleek design. The glass track pad is responsive and feels great to the touch. The red edge running around the outside accentuates the shape which appears to be simple however has timeless elegance. The slots at either side can be used to store small objects but are mainly designed to create an air flow under the users palm to ensure comfort and grip on the leather surface.

Julian Dinsing: Week 3 Hammer

This is less a hammer and more a weapon. I have no idea why it ended up like this because I am usually not someone to go for weapons. The steel ball at the end adds weight and can be used to smash whatever is at desire. The knife at the front explains itself. Lastly there is a little hook at the bottom of the grip which can be used as a crowbar. The rubber inserts on the handle add grip and ergonomics.

I chose to go with a simple and clean design. The idea behind this little friend is that it will hold your Iphone. The slot in its back is a perfect fit and will hold on tightly. The perfect accessory for all our ducky lovers out there.
