Ellen Siu : Week 4 Detergent Bottle

    For this project, I want to design a container that would be able of holding a lot of laundry detergent with in it. In the same time, I also wanted to keep the design similar to the tutorial while not being the same design. Therefore I tried to tweaked the shape of the body, allowing the form to be more streamline. The transparent surface, allows the user to easily  look at the capacity of the detergent.

          I used 'Loft' to built up the main body and used trim and 'Sweep 1 and 2' to created the details. I used also 'Pipe', 'Boolean union', 'Offset' to transform the shape. The most hard task is I got lots of naked edges, I tried to use 'Cap planar holes' but it doesn't work then I used 'Join 2 Naked Edges' to fit it out. It is a good command.

For the materials, I don't want to used general material, then I used glossy blue and a transparent wine red to be the main color.

Reed Herne: Week 4 Detergent Bottle






In designing this project my goal was to create a slightly refined design that did not stray far from the typical consumer detergent bottle that might be found on the shelf at a store. I extended the bottle with an extra chamber extruding from the top and an elongated tip for facilitate pouring. The cap has ridged along the sides allowing grip so that the cap can be easily twisted off if too tight. 

For the basic shape of the bottle I used a sweep 2 command and planar curves for the ends. To create the depression on the bottom surface of the bottle I used the split, scale and loft tools. For the handle I used primarily the extrude curve and fillet tools. Along with the fillet tool I also used the create pipe command to create smooth transitions between surfaces. As for the cap and tip I used the helix, sweep 1 and boolean union commands. To give my bottle structure I used the offset surface command; creating the walls of the form. I found that the DIR (direction) command was practical when troubleshooting boolean operations. 

My material choices were typical much like the shape of my bottle. I chose plastics for cost efficiency since detergent bottles are mass produced, and the colors of the Tide brand bottle because it is easier for the consumer to identify a product they are already familiar with. The transparent cap allows for easier analysis when grading.

Jeffrey Tindi: Bottle :Week 4










The overall shape was inspired by mountains. The tools I used the most were blend edges and boolean difference. I wanted to design a bottle that would be easy to hold and would also include a form pleasant to look at. I made the bottle slightly wider than most to get users more detergent.

I used curveboolean in the beginning to create the sleek curve at the side of the bottle. The material choice I chose reflects an actual bottle using hard plastic for the body  and clear plastic for the cap and the nozzle.

I chose a hot pink because I felt it was a radiant color not usually seen around the house hold.

I wanted to design a bottle that was beautiful.  Simple as that.  I want the user to be able to feel comfortable leaving it out in the open without feeling embarrassed or self conscious about the look of their product.  This was the idea behind the Haute Deto Bottle.  I kept lines minimal and purposeful.  They flowed with the form and gave a sensual aesthetic to the bottle as a whole.  Haute Deto is the perfect luxury detergent bottle.

I used the loft command over curves I drew to get the overall form.  I then used a series of curve projections to get the "sliced" cap, the body curves, and eventually to separate the lid from the body of the bottle.  I then used the Offset Surface command to get the clear indentation.  Sweep 2 took car of the concave curves.  There were some problems with this method because they made it difficult to fillet and made a few naked edges.  I used the Join Naked Edges Command to try and get rid of them, however there are still some small leftover edges in this region.  All methods that I am familiar with could not help me join the edges, as small as they all are  I then used the Offset Surface command to get the thickness of the bottle.  I tried to get liquid on the interior using boolean difference, but it somehow looks odd in the rendering.

I chose plastics as the material, to show what the bottle might actually look like after manufacturing.  I like the minimal color scheme of black and transparent as they will fit with any household decor and still stand out beautifully.  The liquid inside is just a painted color, but does not show through the plastic section very well

My detergent bottle has been designed to hold a great amount of laundry detergent. I also wanted my detergent bottle to be easy to pour and fit the users hand comfortably. This design was intended to look modern and complement any laundry room.

I used many modeling techniques while designing this project. I was very surprised to see my increased problem solving ability as well as my own memory and knowledge of rhino techniques to be used in the making of this design. For starters I used the circle, center, radius tool to create the base of the design then I created my own two lines using the control point curve. I then used the loft command to create the body. Next I used the control point curve again to create what would soon be the curvy indent within my design. Once I was satisfied with the shape created through the control point curve I used the split command and deleted what remained in between these two lines. Then I used the Sweep2 command to connect these two curve in an indented and attractive manner. Next I used the control point once again to create a shape for the handle. Then I extruded the handle, added cap planer holes and then used the BooleanDifference command to create the hole for the handle. To create the cap and spout I first created a cylinder and then went to the curve menu where I selected the helix option. Next I fit the helix to the cylinder and then used the 1D scale to space out the helix. Then I used the Pipe command to create a body for the helix. Next I created a larger cylinder to fit overtop and then used the BooleanDifference command to create a compatible cap for the spout. Then I carefully attached the spout to the detergent bottle body.

I chose to use a clear plastic so the user could see how much liquid is in the bottle. This is useful so the consumer can refill accordingly. I made used a clear plastic on the cap so Professor Scott could see that I properly created the indents in the cap so it is compatible to the spout. I used a rubber material for the grip of the bottle so the user can easily grip the bottle.

Rafael Kader: Week 4 Detergent Bottle

I started this detergent bottle following some tutorial instructions and I also edited the control points to create a cool body. Basically, in this project my initial idea was use unusual shapes and colors. I tried to build a model that not only looks like a real detergent bottle but also looks sufficiently distinct to the others in order to get the costumer's attention. Moreover, the whole bottle's shape was designed in order to get smooth curves and an ergonomic grip.

The body of this model was made after edit the curves' control points using the command Sweep2. It creates a smooth and clean appearance. In addition, the main commands that I used to create this bottle were ExtrudeSrf, Split, Scale, Pipe, Blend, and OffsetSrf.

To render, first of all I chose a Hard Red plastic to the body in order to get attention to the product. Second, I chose a shiny Blue plastic to contrast to this red body.

I got my inspiration from the cheep bottles at Kroger with simple shapes and logos. The bottle have plenty of room for detergent and is designed to be held with one hand. 

I used curves and loft to get the main shape I the bottle and extruded a curve where I wanted the handle to be and then used the extrusion to spit the bottle so that I could create the smooth handle through loft and filletEdge. I created the cap and screwthred by creating a cylinder and marching a helix to it and sweeping a curve to create the third. I used filletEdge on the thred and used Boolean on my cap to match them together. 

I wanted to create a very simple bottle with very generic colors and I felt that using matt blue and red plastic was a perfect fit. I then created a logo for the bottle and I thought that naked edges is something that we want to get rid of from our models so I based the logo on that idea.

For my detergent bottle I wanted to make a bottle that would feature a lot of cutouts and contrasting colors. To create the bottle I used sweep, Boolean 2 object, Boolean difference, fillet, and offset. For the cap I wanted to create a cap that would be easy to put on and take off so I went with a snap cap design. The top of the bottle has sharper edges to allow it so slide and snap into place.  In Key shot I used a combination of hard plastics to create the bottle in order to keep cost down and provide durability.

For this design I wanted it mainly to solve a problem I always have. I always loose my dryer sheets, but with this design its impossible to loose them because they are attached to your laundry detergent. Creating this bottle was easy especially using offsetting and sweeps together. The bottle is made out of hard plastic, glass, rubber, and its filled with laundry detergent of course.

When I was thinking about how I wanted to use the offset tool, I decided I wanted to create a window.  I wanted my design to be more then a good looking bottle. With the two windows you can always see how much is left, from the time you open it, to the last drop.  I used the project, split, and trim commands along with the offset command.  In keyshot I experimented a lot with colors. At first I wanted white, being the obvious choice for ICE.  Nothing looked right, until I started using darker colors.  The final look has a dark blue plastic, with tinted blue plastic windows. the details and text are all gloss grey paint.

Avi Spratt Week 4: Detergent Bottle

For whatever reason, I only seem to have lavender detergent. I don't have any sort of preference, I buy whatever is cheapest to clean my clothes. I decided to make this model based on bottles I have at home, but with more curves. I used Offset curves,loft,rebuild,fillet edge, helix, and various boolean tools to create the bottle. I manipulated control points to further add definition to the bottle.  For materials I used Dupoint pink, purple haze, and pacific sunrise.

Julian Dinsing: Week 4 Bottle




I decided to stick to one of the tutorials but only as far as the steps go. The form for the bottle was meant to be elegant and flowing. The colors should underline this quality which is why the bottle is light gray as this brings the shapes out the best. The silver edges accentuate the form.

Christian McKenzie - Week 2: Duck tutorial


I took inspiration for this project from a designer named Mr. Clement (http://www.mrclement.com/gallery/sculpture/). The perfume bottles. After watching the Rhino thread making tutorial I thought if I put the threads in the center of the models head it would look like a brain and that the model would be an interesting shape for a bottle.

Rhino Techniques and tools used:
  1.  Rebuild (To add more AV curves and controls point to the solids)
  2. Transform (set xyz coordinates (to flatten the base and sides of the solids)
  3. Project
  4. split (to out the various sections)
  5. Offset surface (to generate the interior)
  6. orient on surface(for the wings and the eyes and curve on the helix)
  7. Helix (for the threads)
  8. rail sweep(for the dimension of the threads on the helix) 
  9. cap (to close poly surfaces into solids)
  10. 2d and 3d scale (to size the threads and insure the screw and cap were functional)
  11.  Blend surface (to merge the solids into poly surfaces)
Materials:

  1. Clear Rough textured plastic: wings, legs, eyes and cap. ( I wanted to have some various textures as I intended the majority of the surface to be translucent.
  2. Clear shiny: head and body
  3. leather: for the grip( the texture next to the shiny and rough plastic is a nice contrast and breaks up the  dominantly translucent surfaces)
  4. Shiny clouded plastic: beak and threads ( keeps a nice continuity to the surface rather than an abrupt opaque solid paint) 
  5. Wavy Glass: fluid (   it looks like a convincing fluid I increased the scale of the wave texture.)
