For this assignment, I was planning to create a chair with a simple but unique shape. Also, it was designed for be light and comfortable to sit and to move it around. It is called Futura chair because the shape and materials made it looks like a futuristic chair.

Basically I started this project following a bench tutorial, and then I added my own ideas and elements to this chair. The body was primarily a closed curve that I applied sweep1 to create the extruded surface. After that, I created the sit using extrudeCrv command, Trim and pipe.

In keyshot, I chose a Hard Shiny Black Plastic for the body to make it light and smooth. For the sit, I choose a variety of different colors of silk materials.

Meghan Preiss : Lamp

The inspiration for my lamp came from a baby octopus. I wanted to create a hanging lamp what was wider at the top then tapered in a little bit then have legs come out the bottom. During the process of designing my lamp I decided that I wanted the front to give off more light, therefore I deleted one of the eight legs to create an opening. My lamp can also sit on a flat surface either on its legs or with the legs on top creating more variety.

To create my lamp I started by creating a curve and then revolving it. I used the line tool to create the lines I wanted. I then used surface planar curves to create the planes. I used both scripts provided. I had to edit the unrolled version by using mirror and trim. I used booleandifference to create the seven circular holes on the top. I also added a minor detail of my name to one leg.

I decided to use wood for my lamp because I wanted to create something that would last. For my keyshot model I used a black paint to see if I would like the idea of a painted lamp. When deciding on colors I chose a medium shiny gray and a matte black. I chose these colors because they are the colors of my brothers room and I want to give him this lamp.

Nicole Corlett : Week 8 Bibendum Chair Study

I decided to recreate the Bibendum chair and really attempted to emphasize the upholstery on it by slightly deforming each circle before using the sweep 2 command.  A lot of rebuilding was done to add extra points to be able to manipulate the chair in how I wanted it to look before rendering it in Keyshot. There are about 25 naked edges I can't seem to get rid off and as I showed up on Saturday to get some extra help, I could not find Prof.Scott... :( So here is what I ended up with.  Also, I used 2d orthographic drawings and picture frame to help with scale and accuracy.
