Michael Huh: Week 2 Flashlight
Michael D. Huh Winter 2014 ELDS205 Flashlight
This is a flashlight I have made for people that enjoys something simple, but at the same time fresh. The flashlight itself is very small so I wanted something that would elongate the flashlight although it was small. I went with a "column" design that would help elongate the flashlight, but did not desired to use straight lines for the whole cover so I created waved lines to give a little extra element to the flashlight.
I used basic shapes to create the form of the flashlight cover and started with small details. I used small rectangles below the top second torus and used ArrayLinear to create multiple in a row vertically. I than used ArrayPolar to multiply the shapes around the case and used BooleanDifference to carve out the shapes to create concave rectangles. I used control point curve to make the swiggle shaped lines for the lower base and as well as the top base of the flashlight. I also used Torus for each segment of the flashlight to create a more finish design.
For materials I used axalta for that smooth look and used glass for the base to create a glowing effect. The color pallet I went with was a more of an ocean/seaweed feel, nothing too bright that would distract from the design.
