Sabina Pareja-Lecaros: Week 9 - Tubular Chair

I  guess that tubular chairs reminded me of one of my favorites architects, Mies Van der Rohe, and his simple yet elegant style. He was my inspiration. When sketching for my tubular chair design I ended up with very similar styles. They all had the characteristic of a serpentine-like metallic tube wrapping shapes around. For my final design I went simple but still innovative, I didn't wanted to make repeated rhythms of tubes so I developed a single metallic structure painted with a camel color. This structure lets the back support to bend enough to get a very comfortable position when seated. The other three element are all made out of black leader and some camel fillets. As we can all observe, the back support has a kind of lung shape. This idea reinforces my chair concept, a chair to seat, be comfortable, close your eyes, breathe and relax.

Sabina Pareja-Lecaros: Week 8 Lamp

I am really passionate about architecture and I tend to develop very architecture kind of volumes. For my lamp I was inspired by the Infinity Tower in Dubai. My lamp was originally made from a solid with twisted squares rotating one on top of each other. I did sections in each horizontal and vertical plane to create my structure with surfaces. Later on I piped the intersections to get the nudges and finally extrude the surfaces to get the material's thickness. I used Luan to get my shapes laser cut. Originally, as the Keyshot image describes, my materials are acrylic for the vertical sections and aluminium for the vertical ones. The twisted vertical planes give an amazing lighting effect when the lamp is turned on.

Sabina Pareja-Lecaros: Week 6 Ring

I am a straightforward person. Gems and jewels are not my style. I chose to design my ring as a single piece and single material jewel. I love rings and one of my favorites are the spiral shaped ones. For me, spirals represent infinity and that reminds me of a snake. This is 'The Black Mamba', a sexy yet simple design to represent one of the most poisonous snakes in the globe. As it names says, my ring is made out of a dark polished silver to out stand the edges and angles of the head, as well as the flowing spiral that creates the snake's body.

Sabina Pareja-Lecaros: Week 5 Sunglasses

These are my sunglasses. I wanted to develop an uncompleted frame that would be supported by some kind of metallic structure. I started with some basic drawings and ideas and finally ended up with my final design. I did only one change from my final concept to the final product. I added one more metal piece to improve the structure and support of my sunglasses.

My sunglasses are called   V r s a t i l e   I choose this name because I wanted to keep the concept of a line of sunglasses that change in color and material easily, a versatile style. 

When using Keyshot for rendering, I took advantage of the variety of materials in the program. I was able to visualize my initial concept of creating a transparent frame that lets you see the metallic structure. Later on, I experimented with different materials such as wood, giving me a really interesting final product.

Sabina Pareja-Lecaros: week 4 - USB

This is The Skeleton! I constructed this volume in Rhino by using an image as template. I placed the image in the top view and constructed my curves on top of it, it was really easy. By following the tutorial, I constructed the main features of the USB and then I altered some shapes to create my own design: a USB and key ring.

Sabina Pareja-Lecaros: week 4 - Detergent Bottle

This is my detergent bottle project.  As directed in the course work, I constructed the Rhino model by using images (in this special case I used curves provided as templates). Additionally, I used the offset command to do the majority of features of my detergent bottle. This week I learned how to do the threads on the cap :). Afterward, I rendered the bottle in keyshot. I took advantage of using a transparent material in the bottle body to show the liquid inside it.

Sabina Pareja-Lecaros: Week3 Hammer

My hammer was created by playing with many Boolean deference and lofts in Rhino. Afterwards, I decided to develop a super nice and luxurious hammer with an excellent wood quality.
