Tim Hardin: Week 1 Castle

This is my shiny castle. My inspiration creating this castle was to make a futuristic and untraditional castle. Since one can create pretty much anything they can imagine on Rhino, I decided to stray from the traditional castle setup. It is an attempt at a more round and foreboding castle that would have a lesser chance of invasion.

Rhino is a new program to me and it is interesting discovering new tools and ways to create shapes and surfaces. One tool I used heavily was the polar array, and so lots of the objects used are arranged in a circular fashion. I also frequently used the copy tool to multiply objects again and again.

Once it was imported to Keyshot, I decided that I wanted a mostly reflective/bright surface to add to the futuristic look. The spikes that surround the castle looked especially sharp and threatening using the glass material, and I used a light blue tint instead of a darker one so that it didn’t scare people too much. I also found that for the two large spheres that the gem material was very reflective and eye-catching.
