After working with the organic form of the duck, I over
extended a number of surface points resulting in an elongated sphere. The
distorted solid resembled a swan so I decided to morph the duckling into a
swan.
In order to create the head and body it was necessary to
rebuilt with a lot of extra control points. I also changed the degree and was
able to rebuild both of the spheres. The neck was problematic. I tried a number
of different techniques before learning how to use the pipe tool. It was very
time consuming and I have definitely learned some other quicker methods.
The swan originally was rendered in the traditional black,
white and red colours. However, as soon as I dropped in the titanium, coupled
with the brushed titanium, I felt that the elegant appearance lent itself more to
my initial product idea; a hidden compartment within the body of the animal.
So, I lined the convex surface with a rich coffee colour to compliment the beak
and to be somewhat inconspicuous.
