Week 2 Project
Flashlight
The symmetrical shape of a traditional flashlight seemed a
bit ridged so I recreated the form using curvilinear lines. I wanted to design a flashlight that would be interesting and look great sitting perpendicular on any surface.
Extruding the cylinders, as we did in class, seemed to take a
lot of time. I sketched out my design, did the math and plotted polylines and
curved lines that I joined and revolved. Then I added the bands by revolving.
The spheres were added afterward and I used the array polar command to populate
them evenly around the band.
I tried a number of different materials. Although I liked
some of the metals they made this look like a chalice. So I went back to paint
and added some bright highlights.
