Samantha Whitmore: Week 2 Ducky

Samantha Whitmore Winter 2014 ELDS205 Ducky
When I heard we had to create a duck product I immediately thought of something that had to do with water. Mostly how would a duck product fit into a bathroom. I decided I wanted to create a Duck Speaker. Allowing a person to plug in their iPod or Phone to be able to listen to their music. Rather then have the speaker fit in it's mouth like i originally wanted I made the front stomach a speaker allowing for more music to be heard.

For creating the model the tool split was needed to be able to break apart the parts and pieces that i wanted to be recreated into a different use. Using the pipe and curve i was able to make it visually easier to see the difference and create wings for the duck. Boolean difference and union was a big help for the eyes. When all was done I used the join tool to reattach all the pieces together to make it easier to color the layers.

When rendering the duck I used a wireframe to create the speaker in the front for the music to be heard. The duck should be hard, and shiny. The shiny cloudy plastic helped to create the body, such as the wings, middle, and beak, a hard material to with stand being in a bathroom. To give the eyes a misty look I used anodized blue. Leaving the trimmings around the speaker and wings, as well as the dock station to be made of a wood material.
